The essentials

Open Water is the first level of the international agencies. At Scubapiti, you take it with SDI, PADI or SSI, with an instructor who trains and accompanies you from the first skill to the last dive.

From age 12

Minimum age.

2 + 4 dives

Two in the lagoon, four in the ocean.

4 days minimum

At your own pace.

3 agencies

SDI, PADI or SSI.

How the course works

The first two dives take place in the lagoon, in calm water, to learn the basic skills. The next four are in the ocean, outside the reef, on our fun-dive sites.

Once Open Water certified, you can dive down to 20 metres in the ocean, with us and anywhere in the world.

Started elsewhere?

If you have done the theory and pool sessions at a PADI centre at home, you can complete your course in Moorea with us: this is the PADI referral.

What's next?

Next step: the Advanced, to go further and deeper. Prefer the French system? See the French levels. For 10 and 11 year olds: the Junior Open Water, on the kids & teens diving page.
